About the template
What this solar quote template covers and why it wins more installs
Solar quotes lose work when panel and inverter brands are vague and the battery capacity is given as 'with battery'. A homeowner choosing between three solar quotes wants to see the brand, the wattage, the inverter class, the battery chemistry and kWh capacity, and the COC fee. Each visible line stops the cheap-and-Chinese-knockoff quote making yours look expensive on the total.
The template below itemises PV panels by brand and wattage, the hybrid inverter by brand and capacity, the battery by brand and kWh, mounting rails and roof hooks, DC/AC cabling and combiner box, Certificate of Compliance and commissioning. Each line is a real cost the client can verify against the spec sheets you provide.

Avoid these
Common mistakes on solar installers quotes
The patterns that quietly lose jobs, get queried at payment time, or leave money on the table.
Mistake: Panel brand not named
Better: State the brand and tier (Tier 1: Canadian Solar, JA Solar, Trina vs Tier 2/3). A 25-year warranty from a Tier 1 manufacturer is worth more than a similar wattage from an unknown brand.
Mistake: Inverter brand and class not specified
Better: State the inverter brand and class (Sunsynk, Deye, Victron, SMA). Hybrid vs grid-tie vs off-grid are three different topologies and price points. Naming the class stops the substitution-shop.
Mistake: Battery given as 'with battery' or by total cost only
Better: Name the brand, chemistry (lithium-ion vs lead-acid), and kWh capacity. A 5kWh Pylontech is half the price of a 10kWh BYD; the client wants to know which they are buying.
Mistake: COC omitted or rolled into labour
Better: Show the Certificate of Compliance and commissioning as its own line. Regulated cost, expected by the client, expected by the utility.
Mistake: No performance estimate
Better: State the expected kWh per year for the system size and location, and a rough payback period. Solar buyers want a payback figure to justify the spend; without it, they cannot say yes.
Mistake: No grid-tie application timeline
Better: If the install needs utility approval, state the approval timeline ('typically 4 to 8 weeks to approval after install'). Solar grid-tie installs that miss this end in unhappy clients.
FAQ
Solar Installers quote template questions
Everything solar installers ask before they switch to a structured quote.
Panel brand and wattage, inverter brand and class, battery brand and kWh, mounting hardware, cabling and labour, COC and commissioning, performance estimate, tax, deposit terms, and banking details.
30 days is standard. Panel, inverter, and battery prices move with imports and exchange rate. State the validity so price moves do not bite.
Yes. 40 percent on acceptance covers panel and inverter orders (long lead times, non-returnable). Progress payment on install start, balance on COC issue.
Always. Tier 1 brands (Canadian Solar, JA Solar, Trina, Jinko) have 25-year output warranties. Tier 2/3 do not. Naming the tier justifies the price.
Solar buyers want to know payback. State expected kWh per year for the system size, your location's solar irradiance, and a rough payback period (typically 4 to 8 years depending on electricity rates). Without it, the client cannot say yes.
State that you submit the application on the client's behalf, and state the typical timeline (4 to 8 weeks). Charge a separate line for the application paperwork if it is significant work.
