About the template
What this roofer quote template covers and why it wins re-roofs
A leaking roof is an emergency, and whoever responds first with a clear itemised number usually wins, not whoever quotes cheapest next week. The template below is built for that speed. Each layer of the roof system, from strip-out to ridge capping, is priced on its own line. Tile profile and gauge are specified so a client cannot ask you to swap to a cheaper concrete tile without re-quoting. Scaffold is its own line because anything over three metres needs it and burying it inside labour costs you safety and margin.
Re-roofs and repairs both need a provisional sum line for rotten battens or truss damage that you only see once the tiles are off. Waterproofing on flat roofs needs a weather contingency clause because torch-on and liquid systems need dry conditions. Repair scope needs an inclusion list so the client cannot argue that the whole roof was implied when you only quoted one section. Each of these is its own line on the template below, and each saves an awkward Friday afternoon argument later.
Use it as a checklist while you walk the roof. Or build it on your phone in QuoteGenio with the tile rates, scaffold pricing, and warranty clauses already set up. Share it via WhatsApp before you pack the ladder and most clients will sign while the leak is still fresh. When you strip the roof and find rotten trusses, photograph the damage, send it via WhatsApp, and issue a variation order against the provisional rate you already quoted, so the extra work is signed off before you pick up the saw.

Common mistakes on roofers quotes
The patterns that quietly lose jobs, get queried at payment time, or leave money on the table.
Mistake: Quoting a re-roof without a provisional for rot
Better: Until the tiles are off, you cannot see battens, underlay, or truss damage. Add a provisional sum line like '$ 850 provisional, billed on actual metres'. Clients accept this because it is honest, and it stops you eating a nasty surprise.
Mistake: Forgetting scaffold on two-storey jobs
Better: A two-storey roof without scaffold is unsafe and slow. Quote scaffold as a separate line ($ 500 to $ 1,500 depending on elevations and duration) so it is paid and your crew works safe.
Mistake: Not specifying the tile or sheet profile
Better: Concrete, clay, slate, IBR, corrugated, and chromadek price very differently. Specify the product, colour, and gauge in the description. Vague spec invites a price-shop on a cheaper substitute.
Mistake: Quoting repairs without a scope inclusion list
Better: Say what is in and out: 'Includes ridge re-bedding on main ridge only, excludes hip ridges and valleys'. Repair scope fights happen because the client imagined more than you priced.
Mistake: No weather contingency on waterproofing
Better: Torch-on and liquid systems need dry conditions. State 'pricing assumes two consecutive dry days; stand-down days charged at daywork rate'. Protects your crew's time when the weather turns.
Mistake: Lumping waterproofing with tile work
Better: Flat roof waterproofing and pitched tile work are different trades, materials, and warranties. Price them as separate sections so the client sees each system and its guarantee.
FAQ
Roofers quote template questions
Everything roofers ask before they switch to a structured quote.
Roof area in square metres, tile profile and gauge specified, strip-out and disposal, battens, underlay, tiles, flashings, ridges, scaffold if needed, a provisional sum for hidden damage, a 14 to 30 day validity, deposit terms, and your banking details. The QuoteGenio template carries all of these by default.
14 to 30 days for most re-roofs. Tile, sheeting, and bitumen prices move with the exchange rate and oil price, and a three-month-old re-roof quote can cost you thousands. State the validity on the quote so you can re-quote cleanly if the client comes back later.
Yes, always, as its own line. Anything over three metres needs it and clients accept the cost when it is shown transparently. Buried inside labour, it gets queried; shown separately, it is a regulated cost they expect to see.
It is a placeholder for work that cannot be priced until conditions are exposed (rotten battens, truss damage, wet insulation). Quote a per-metre rate ('billed on actual metres at $ 12 per metre of batten replacement') so the variation is automatic when you strip the roof and find what is there.
Yes. 30 to 40 percent on acceptance to cover tiles, battens, underlay, and scaffold hire. State it in the quote terms. Re-roofs have high upfront material costs and the deposit protects you against late cancellation after you have ordered.
Spec the full system on the quote: primer, first APP torch-on layer, second APP layer, UV aluminium topcoat, and parapet upturns per linear metre. The warranty is the spec. State the warranty length (5 to 10 years on two-layer APP) because that is often what closes the sale against a cheaper single-layer bid.
Yes. Most leak emergencies happen via WhatsApp, so respond on the same channel. QuoteGenio lets you build the quote on your phone, attach inspection photos, and share the link via WhatsApp before you leave the property. Speed of response wins most leak jobs.
Yes. The template structure is free to use. The QuoteGenio app builds the same quote in minutes with your tile rates, scaffold pricing, and warranty clauses already set up. The free plan covers 5 quotes a month with no credit card.
