What it means
Scope of work is the precise list of what your quote covers, and just as importantly what it does not cover. Without a clear scope, the customer assumes everything is included and you absorb the cost of every extra. With a clear scope, additions become change orders that you can quote separately.
What a strong scope includes
Itemised list of work to be done. Materials to be supplied (and by whom). Site preparation expected from the customer (clearing access, providing power, removing furniture). Anything explicitly excluded ('does not include making-good of plasterwork beyond 200mm from the new outlet'). Clean-up and removal of debris.
Why exclusions matter
An explicit exclusion list is just as valuable as the inclusion list. 'Does not include painting after install' protects you when the customer assumed you would. 'Does not include scaffold hire' explains why a later quote for the scaffold is fair.
How QuoteGenio handles scope
Every quote can list inclusions, exclusions, and customer responsibilities in dedicated sections. Quoted scope flows through to the invoice automatically, so the work delivered always matches what was agreed.
