About the template
What this gas fitter quote template covers and why it wins regulated work
Gas work is regulated and the Certificate of Compliance is non-negotiable. Quotes that bury the COC inside labour read as cheap-and-cheerful and lose to quotes that show the COC and pressure test as their own lines. The template below makes every regulated step visible: site survey, pipe run per metre, regulator and isolating valve, flue kit, install labour, and COC plus pressure test.
Replacing an electric system with gas also means removing the old unit; quote that as its own line so the trip back is paid. State the gas type (LPG vs natural gas) because pipe sizing and regulator selection are different. And state the unit being installed by brand and capacity so the client cannot ask for a swap to a cheaper unit without re-quoting.

Avoid these
Common mistakes on gas fitters quotes
The patterns that quietly lose jobs, get queried at payment time, or leave money on the table.
Mistake: COC bundled into labour
Better: Show the Certificate of Compliance as its own line with the pressure test. It is a regulated cost the client expects to see, and burying it makes the labour figure look inflated.
Mistake: Pipe run quoted as 'pipe work'
Better: Quote per metre with fittings included. Distance matters: a 4m run versus a 12m run is a real cost difference and the client wants to see it.
Mistake: Old unit removal omitted
Better: Add 'removal and disposal of old unit' as its own line. Old electric geysers are bulky and need a separate trip. Hidden, it eats your margin.
Mistake: Gas type not specified
Better: State LPG or natural gas. Pipe sizing, regulator, and unit selection are all different. Vague spec invites scope creep at install time.
Mistake: No flue kit line on indoor units
Better: Indoor units need a flue. Quote the flue kit and roof or wall penetration as its own line. Outdoor units do not need it; state which applies.
Mistake: Unit brand not named
Better: Brand and capacity matter (Bosch 16L vs Dewhot vs locally-made). Naming the unit stops the cheap-substitution shop and supports the warranty record.
FAQ
Gas Fitters quote template questions
Everything gas fitters ask before they switch to a structured quote.
Site survey, unit brand and capacity, copper pipe per metre, regulator, flue if applicable, install labour, Certificate of Compliance and pressure test as its own line, old unit removal, tax, deposit terms, and banking details.
30 days is standard. Imported geyser units have lead times and price moves with the exchange rate. State the validity so material price changes do not bite.
Always. The Certificate of Compliance is a regulated, non-optional cost. Showing it separately makes the labour figure look reasonable and the regulated cost transparent.
Yes. 40 percent on acceptance covers unit purchase (imported units are non-returnable). Progress payment on first-fix, balance on COC issue.
Pipe sizing, regulator, and connection method are different. Natural gas needs a network connection and pressure test against utility standards; LPG needs cylinder location and ventilation compliance. State the gas type on the quote so the install is priced correctly.
The COC certifies the install on the day of issue. Subsequent modifications void it. State on the quote that any work done by others after the COC issue voids the certificate.
